Blank Stare at the Airport

I couldn't think of a title for this post so I made it the current activity that I am experiencing at this time, blank staring. It has been awhile since I have posted. Life has been non-stop travel and work with little time for play. Lets see... I was in the Northeast last I spoke... eh I'll just give you the most recent update. This weekend was spent in Memphis, Knoxville, Greensville (SC) and Macon, GA. Can't say it was the best of weekends for GCU but everything went very smoothly. Don't really have too much to report on the work front besides the routine this is now being integrated into my life. Best part, I get to sleep until noon everyday. Since tour is not particularly exciting at the moment I guess I will touch on the home life a little bit

I am still on the hunt for a car. I think I may be purchasing one this week sometime but who knows how that will work out. I did get to spend some much needed time with my brother when I was home last. I miss that kid, and now that poker got banned from the internet I have a feeling he is going to have a lot more freetime. Maybe we should hang out? Hmmmm. Again as always I look forward to spending time with the roomates. Our house is always full of laughter and good times. *Side note* If anyone would like to clean my room while I am home I will pay you 5 bucks and a pepsi? Just a note. Dakotah has been spending a lot more time at our house which is nice to have a new perspective around. He has been a good friend for years and life is always full of surprises with him.

Not sure I really want to start experiencing the Phoenix heat as the summer quickly approaches.

Northern Comfort?

Here I am once again. Writing from the comfort of the bus which is now my temporary home. I must say I am enjoying the grind more then I thought I would. The best part of this is the new friends I am beginning to make and the comfort I get as I become accepted into the crew and some of the band. It is nice to see that most of the crew now will talk to me, joke with me, and include me into conversations as im becoming less of the "new guy" and more of a friend and co-worker. One of the most enjoyable things while on the road is the competitive basketball games which have started to become routine. I definitely need to work on my shot it has been a long time since high school when I could drain the 3. I had the privilege of shooting hoops last night with Mac Powell, Tai Anderson and Mark Lee. I never thought I would hear Mac Powell say "Trevor i'm open" Or give me a high five after making a shot. It's so cool because these guys are just normal human beings. Yeah they are well known but it doesn't stop them from just being like us. There is no I'm better then you or that I am looked down upon. I have also gotten to spend a lot more time with the guys from Tenth Avenue North. I watched some of the March Madness on their bus last night and just got to hang out with them. I feel like I fit in with these guys and it is cool to just hang out with them

Anyways, this weekend we are in the North East; Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia. Last night at Geneva College I was not allowed to set up the Grand Canyon University booth because we are "competition" Yeah, Geneva was scared, that's right. So I had the day off. I played a lot of basketball trying to get my shot back. Oh yeah, one other thing, our bus broke down at a rest area. At 930 I was woken up and rushed off the bus into less-then-pleasant vans that smelled of old cigarettes and was freezing. I hadn't gotten my eight hours of sleep so I was less then happy. At least I didn't have to set up my booth. So here I am, sitting on the bus, listening to the gentle hum of the bus contemplating napping for a bit. Tomorrow is back to Pennsylvania where I get the help of co-workers Spencer and Joey.

Week 2: Mississippi, Missouri, Louisiana and Texas.

First official weekend of the Move Tour is complete, and it was the longest weekend of the tour. 5 shows last weekend makes for a tiring week. It was a fun week even though it was considered "work." We had a two night show in Indianapolis after I took a $100 cab ride to the church venue. We then drove to Wakeusha, WI where I got to enjoy some games of pick up basketball with Tenth Avenue North and some members of Third Day. Pretty cool experience although I still could use some brushing up on my basketball skills. Mike from Tenth Avenue was a beast along with Brendon McCarthy ( Who is married to Rachel Lampa btw). I found I am traveling with a lot of experienced and high profile people which makes me feel slightly out of place but is also very exciting.

Davenport, IA was interesting. The venue was at an old Theatre and the lobby space for our booths was less then adequate. I got to know my volunteers quite well during this show to say the least. We then traveled to Grand Rapids where I spent some long awaited time with my cousins at lunch. It was such a blessing to see them and get to talk with some family whom I hadn't seen in more then 3 years. My little cousins help me set up the lobby booth and I must say it was some great help. Its weird getting used to this schedule as my weekends are now considered Monday and Tuesday. Hung out with the roomates and went to see Battle: LA which was entertaining but slightly corny.

It is amazing to see the impact that our school is having on this country. The other day I received a message from a high schooler who volunteered at our booth. She said she was really excitied about Grand Canyon University and that she is now telling all of her high school friends. I didnt know how much of an impact this booth would have on people and it is very encouraging to be witnessing these things.

This weekend I get to spend time with an old High school friend in Texas. Getting to see friends and family is a great perk to this job as I have friends and family all over the country. I am still looking for a car but my roomates have made it clear that they can drive me if I dont get a car soon, which is wonderful. so here I am, sitting at Sky Harbor Airport waiting for my flight to Nashville to catch a ride on the tour bus. Traveling life is tiring but extremely exciting and I cannot wait to see what this weekend brings.

Let the Madness Begin

So this last weekend I was in Missoula, Montana and Seattle, Washington with the Rock and Worship Roadshow. This was a different weekend for me because there was no room on the bus for me :( So Friday started out with a flight to Salt Lake City connecting to Missoula, MT. I guess the best thing about there not being enough room on the bus is that I stayed in 2 very nice hotel rooms and my rental car was pretty sweet. Missoula is a beautiful town, but could be considered the definition of hicville. I enjoyed Arby's for lunch and didn't see one person without flannel on..... *HIC* I departed Missoula the following morning at O DARK Thirty (Translation: 430AM) Drove myself to the airport and boarded the plan for Seattle. Arrived in Seattle around 8am, took a cab to the hotel and slept for another 4 hours before heading to Key Arena. Key Arena is gigantic, just throwing that out there. I walked from my hotel to the Arena and Seattle is beautiful. Couldn't of asked for a better day in Seattle because it was not RAINING! We had a record breaking night as far as people who were interested in GCU. Spencer and I hung out until 300AM just chillin in my hotel room before he had to make it back to the bus to depart for Portland. Only problem with staying up until 3am is that I needed to wake up for my flight at 4am.... SO the rest of the day ended up being miserable because all I could think about was sleep. My wonderful Brahther picked me up from the airport and we ate Chipotle and napped together... awwww how cute.

This week start early. I leave tomorrow, Tuesday March 08 for Indianapolis. Third Day added another show because their show on the 10th sold out so I must be there for the show on the 9th. I'm excited to start my 3 month journey with Third Day. This is the first weekend of their main tour set and it is crazy. I leave Tuesday to return the following Monday. I then have a meeting on Tuesday and leave on Wednesday to return again on Monday. This weekend however is a 5 show weekend. That is insane. I did four shows one weekend and it seemed neverending. God will help me make it through.

Happy's and Crappy's

I passed my NCLEX! Yay. A huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I am now a registered nurse in the state of Arizona, which is kinda scary if you ask me. I have to worry about creating a new signature which includes RN at the end of it...If anyone has a creative idea, please que me in. That is pretty much my only happy other then still being alive of course.
Last Thursday I was in an accident and not just a fender-bender and ACTUAL accident. All my fault as well which kinda sucks. Everyone was safe, God proctected us. Another down side to the accident was that I hit my eye on the steering wheel. My eye swelled up to the size of a golf ball making me highly unattractive and a bit ogreish. This caused concern to my boss and I did not end up heading out on tour this weekend because of my eye. So I stayed at home and worked hard on my hobbies, video games. Started playing Fable 3 and Bulletstorm. Fable is pretty weak but Bulletstorm is highly enjoyable. I hope to head back out this week, either Wednesday or Thursday and I believe it will be to the Northwest such as Boise, Idaho and Portland.
 Last night I enjoyed a wonderful, fun-filled dinner with my roomates at the Rinnier's residence. We played Loaded Questions which was hilarious to say the least and I don't think any of us have ever seen Matt Herbert cry due to laughter. Oh and I am also looking for a car, considering mine was totalled. If you know anyone trying to sell a car I would love to check it out!

The first weekend of many

Ok time to set up the table, lets talk to people, alright now lets tear the tables down, eat, sleep, and repeat. This is basically what my schedule consists of on tour but what can I say it is the life on the road! As I posted before I was excited to see how life would actually play out on the bus. First of all I was expecting a tour bus to be a basic charter bus. I was not aware that there were bunks and couches and tables included on a tour bus. Surprise number 1. Spencer and I were flown into Nashville and picked up by an executive chaueffer. Pretty cool eh? The thing is he dropped us off at Walmart.... Our buses were waiting for us there which is when I learned that I would not be sleeping sitting up. We departed at midnight for Dayton, Ohio for the Nutter Center at Wright State University. I ended up being the last person to wake up on the bus. I had no idea what to do. So I grabbed my bags and headed off the bus. IT WAS FREEZING. So i'm running to the door because all I have on is my t-shirt, I'm not familiar with the area and have no clue where to go. Luckily there were signs everywhere which led me to our dressing room.

Spencer and I then went to the trailer to retrieve our stuff to set up the GCU booth. We get to the spot of our set up to find that we are placed directly in front of a WRIGHT STATE UNIVERSITY sign. Perfect. Our display more then covered it up and it was time for dinner. Now on tour, and I was not aware of this, every arena or venue that we travel to must cater for us.... I think I am going to get fat, seriously. Not to mention that after the show and once everyone is on the bus there is finger food ranging from buffalo wings to stuffed chicago pizza...(Which we deliciously scarffed down in Chicago). Chicago was probably the biggest surprise upon leaving the bus. I opened to the door to find that it was snowing and even colder than Dayton. I learned from my last experience to wear a sweatshirt.... In Chicago we set up at the Sears Centre. Again set up, tear down, eat and sleep. Our computers at our booth decided to quit working 10 minutes into doors opening up so we had to switch to physical information cards. We had 134 requests for information that night, the most out of our three nights. Of course this was on the night when we had to manually enter each persons information seperately after the show. Spencer and I were up until 5-6am.

Lansing, Michigan was our last stop at the Jack Breslin Arena (MSU). Set up, tear down, eat, sleep. (From now on this process will be referred to as SUTDES). I stayed with family in Lansing that night and it was a wonderful treat to hang out with family that I had not seen in three years. One more thing to add... I had to run to my flight in Detroit... Made it with 5 minutes to spare but the sad part was that one of the Online Enrollment counselors decided to not run and walk to the gate. Well she didn't quite make it.

I take my Nursing State Boards tomorrow (NCLEX) So please be praying for me.

A New Beginning

So here it begins, a week earlier than expected and I couldn't be more excited. This first weekend is to get a feel for the whole process of being a Tour Coordinator. I will be traveling with my friend Spencer who is a Tour Coordinator as well but for the Rock and Worship Roadshow. This tour includes Mercy Me, Jars of Clay and Thousand Foot Krutch. I have had many meetings regarding my job description and what to expect but the experience on tour will be the real kicker. One can't quite come to expect anything while on the road as situations may arise at a moments notice. I can't wait to see what life on the road is like, to experience the joys and most likely the frustrations.

Dayton, Ohio: Thursday, Feb 10
Chicago, Illinois: Friday, Feb 11
East Lansing, Michigan (Home State): Feb 12

I will be returning back to Phoenix Feb 13 after spending a night with my Aunt Diane in Lansing, Michigan (the joys of having family in Michigan). I am extremely excited to see some family after three years of being away from them. Some may say though "Trevor, you just graduated from Grand Canyon University with your nursing degree right? Well do yo not want to be a nurse anymore?" Quite the contrary. I will be taking my state boards on Feb, 14 in order to become a registered nurse. So, no, I am not giving up on being a nurse but an opportunity such as this does not arise everyday so I decided to run with it and do something different. I figure the rest of my life will be based off of nursing so why not take the opportunity to live a little. Please be praying for me as I study this weekend for my big test coming up. God knows I need it.
